How to Avoid a Car Accident

I have just gifted my 19 year old daughter a new car on her birthday. I know car accidents are so common these days. What are some safe driving tips I can provide her to avoid a car accident?

The following tips can help prevent car accidents:

·         Do not indulge in any other activity such as texting or making a call, applying make-up, eating or drinking, changing the radio station or engaging in conversation with your co-passengers.

·         Constantly scan the traffic in front of you to identify any problem and give enough time to react should the driver in front of you makes a sudden stop.

·         Do not drive in the ‘fast’ lane because this is where most car accidents occur. Always choose to drive in the center lane.

·         Do not drive under fatigue. Make sure you have had enough sleep before taking up the wheel.

·         Grip the steering wheel firmly with both hands to maximize the control of your vehicle should you need to make a quick maneuver.

·         Familiarize yourself with your car’s limits. This can help you stay safe.

·         Maintain your car on a regular basis. Change the car’s oil and tires, have your brakes checked periodically, etc.
